How raised tiers affect Wonderland
November 4, 2008 by admin · 4 Comments
After the great uproar tier raises caused, a dialog opened between Estate owners and Linden Labs. The outcome is still unpredictable but, still hoping for the best, we have to prepare for the worst case scenario. In Wonderland all sims are Openspace, except Caribbean Breeze, Costa del Mar and Porto Negro, so they are affected.
So how will Wonderland Openspace residents be affected?
Wonderland has been around for 20 months maintaining practically the same tiers, even after Linden Labs started charging us VAT. We absorbed the cost then and we will try to absorb part of the cost now, although we can’t do much as the raise is exorbitant. When tier raises are final, we will publish the new tiers for Openspaces.
We understand that the new tiers may be out of some’s budget. In that case we will try to provide you with a same size island on a normal prim sim with the same tier as before. We may even convert Openspaces back to normal prim sims. In any case we’ll do our best to protect your investment so that you continue to have a place to call home in SL.
Feel free to leave your thoughts but, please, use your SL name.

I might not have a problem with a tier raise if its not that huge of an increase. Linden M is supposed to make a new blog about the issue in a few days so hopefully if he has any sense they will grandfather the already established sims. Granted he is a Linden and an formal AOL employee so we can’t expect to much)..
I really hope LL see sense and do not raise the prices of the openspace regions.
But i will definately try my best to stay with you here at wonderland, as it is a great place to call home
We were in the middle of paying for an OS, and had not been told that we were not actually supposed to be using the prims the land came with. While we were attempting to develop a business (also something that the owners had not told told us was not supposed to be done) it had not yet even come close to overloading anything.
With the annoucement that the fees were increasing, the owners decided to abandon, taking payments of over $L 25,000 on top of the tier fees and making hundreds of hours of work a screaming waste of time. Now we have to start from scratch.
I was so grateful, that the upgrade of Costa del Mar was called off, the one bright spot in an otherwise very depressing week. I would not have been able to maintian higher tier fees, and would sadly have had to abandon my home as well.
I am fairly new to the Wonderland Sims after buying my island, which I love already. I hope with the protests, LL will grandfather in existing OSSs or lower the amount of the tier raise and find another way to work out their perceived problems. I hope to stay on my island; perhaps it will be changed to a normal prim sim. I like Wonderland Sims and home enough to fight to stay there. Good luck to the Sim owners.
